Where Have All The Cowboys Gone? | Fairhope Family Photographer

Since it's a New Year, I figure I would write a little introduction about yours truly.  I'm so blessed to be able to do what I love to do. And since I consider all of my clients my friends, why not let all of my friends get to know me a little better?

There's really no easy way to start and I'm completely awkward when it comes to introductions. Not to mention, despite being an english major in college, I'm the absolute worst at spelling and grammatical errors.  You have been warned.

....So here it goes.

Besides being a photographer, I'm a mother and wife. I've been so fortunate in life to have found the one who makes my heart complete at an early age. I met my husband at  15 ( I was a sophomore and he was a senior) and have been with him ever since. It's been so nice and comforting to have been able to grow up with the person you are going to grow old with. 14 years ( 6 of them being married) later, we have two wonderful, rambunctious little boys. We love big families and are so happy to be adding another wild thing to our tribe this spring.  I will be a mom of 3 boys and I'm beyond excited! Boys are truly the best. They can be hard and rough on the outside, but full of mush and gooey love on the inside. I've always been told, that boys LOVE their mamas, and I can tell you it is a fact. I love getting flowers, rocks, and other knick knacks from them. I adore going on  dinosaur hunts and searching for worms in our garden with my two explorers. It's simply the sweetest and I'm forever grateful for the life that I have as a boy mom.

I'm a bit of a dreamer. I'm romantic with my thoughts and will dream and even obsess about all of life's adventures that I want to pursue. One crazy adventure that I would love to do, is to one day have a bakery truck or even my own little bakery shop. I have celiac disease and have had to teach myself how to cook and bake all over again. Gluten Free can taste like straight up dog poop if you don't do your research. So as soon as I found out ( which was 2 weeks after I got engaged; I was devastated. Not because I had this new lifestyle, but because I couldn't participate in the wedding cake tasting.  Literally, I cried.)  I went to Barnes & Noble and hopped on Pinterest and researched my little heart out so I could learn to make decent tasting food. And I can honestly say that I haven't perfected it, but I can whip up some pretty dang nice meals and treats.

One thing that I love about photography is that you can capture a moment in time and revisit over and over again. I love being able to do that for my clients.  I'm a collector of memories and vintage things. I am extremely sentimental and can even be a bit of a hoarder ( especially now that I'm a mom. I think I have every cell phone photo printed, either in a shoe box, frame, or in an album. I don't want to forget anything! Currently working on getting all of my cellphone videos onto DVD.  2018 will be the year for that.)

One HUGE odd thing about me is that I don't have a sense of smell. Yep you read that right, can't smell a darn thing. I didn't really notice it till I was in the 5th grade when I overheard some kids picking on another classmate at lunch. They said she smelled like "rotten eggs." I remember thinking what did that even smell like. That is when my journey of discovery began.  I truly thought I missed a class or something in school. We moved around a lot growing up, which made perfect sense in my head that I must have missed a class at school or something. Well, my mother took some convincing and decided to have her own test to see if I was bluffing or if I truly couldn't smell. So she made a cake one day, for no dang reason, and went next door to chat with a friend. I was inside doing school work and was told to keep an eye on it since she 'forgot' to put the timer on. Well, time went by and I truly forgot about it. She came in 30 minutes later, and was devastated to find her red velvet cake ruined. She asked how it happened and I told her I  forgot and didn't smell it at all. Several weeks later, I went to see my doctor and he said that I was right and couldn't smell. Apparently I haven't been able to smell since birth. Guess I didn't miss a class after all.

Smell and memories kinda go hand in hand for a lot of people.  Well, for me it's music and photography. Photography and music take me back to places and times in my life that I love and cherish.

Where Have All the Cowboys Gone by Paula Cole was my favorite song (and still is) when I was a little girl. It takes me back to my childhood. It takes me back to catholic school and talking to my friends about the movies Clueless and Dumb and Dumber. It takes me back to when I first fell in love with horses, little did I know it, I would have a life long relationship with them.  Just like how photos can transport us to a time and place, that song, as well as many others, takes me back to memories that I love.

Caitlen Babb Photography has been the biggest blessing for me and my family.  Family is EVERYTHING TO ME and easily reflects in my business.  I love being able to capture moments for families that will one day be a memory that they will adore. I strive to capture authentic mundane moments that often go unnoticed, or the even the moments that you want to remember forever.  Because that is what I capture for myself of my own family.

I am beyond thrilled to see what 2018 has in store for me and my little business.

Every photo tells a story. Why not capture yours.

Xoxo
